Blitz - Otto

I need some help and even though I can speak some German, I cannot write it
well. I hope someone can understand my English.

My mother has cousins in Texas, USA that came from Germany. I cannot trace
back to where the line comes into the family. I know it is a true
connection because my DNA results show some of the Texas branch as cousins.
My mother says it is a relation on her maternal grandmothers side of the
family.

I found Dorothee (Dora) Blitz is the Grandmother of the woman my mother used
to write. Her birthdate is November 9, 1853 and she was born in
Osterweddingen. Her husband, Frederick Anton (born in Langenweddingen),
visited Magdeburg and filled out a certificate of visiting American Citizen
with the place of birth for Dorothee. Her gravestone lists the date.

The only relative in my mothers family I can find that matches closely with
this is Dorothea Margarethe Otto. Her birthdate and place are the same. On
her baptism record, a Blitz (Margarete) was a godparent. I found Dorothea's
confirmation record with the same name, but I cannot find anything else
after 1868.

Is it possible Dorothea Otto and Dorothee Blitz are the same? Could
Dorothea Otto have been adopted and her name changed to Blitz?
Unfortunately, there are no relatives alive that can answer this question
and I am hoping one of you can help.

Thank you in advance,

Helga Lawler nee Koenig

Hello Helga

there is a Otto-Marriage in 1873 in Osterweddingen, but without a sign that the Mother Anna Lossier married a second time. I think you should try to find the marriage record for Friedrich Anton and Dorothea Blitz.
Find a grave shows as father of Dorothea Blitz Andrew Otto Blitz. I couldnt find any entry in familysearch with this name.
I dont suppose that Dorothea Blitz and Dorothea Otto are the same person, so check all sources.

Also Anna Lossier m. Otto has an entry in 1863 for a illegitim child, father is not mentioned.

An Andrew Lossier is married with a wife named Blitz.

Greetings
