ONNEBRINK, NIENHAUS, HORT:
Christina Onnebrink emigrated in 1878 to Burlington, Iowa, USA, from
Westphalia. Her first husband, John Joseph (or Joseph John) Nienhaus was
killed in a railway accident in 1888. (Civil documents show several
spellings for his last name.) Their place of marriage is not known.
Christina soon after the accident married Nicholas Hort (emigrated from
Rhino-Prussia), a recent widower who also had small children. Cristina was
born in 1850, John in 1856(?) , and Nicholas in 1847. Nicholas Hort's two
marriages were in a Catholic Church in Iowa so he must have come from a
Catholic church or community.
None of the Iowa civil documents have shown actual places of birth. If
these family names (as well as DAHLBRUNN and LOCH) and general range of
dates are familiar to anyone, it would be very helpful to me to have
possible places where I can continue my search.
Hopefully,
