Birth Records in Hanover

Hi List,
MY great-grandfather was born in Hanover about 1820. I am do not know
if it was in the city of Hanover or elsewhere in the Kingdom of Hanover. I
would appreciate any suggestions on how to proceed.
                                  Thank you

Hinrich Hoeper was born 1 Jan 1844. When he emigrated to the States, he gave
Stade as his residence. The Lutheran church record in Dexter, MN, had his death
record in 1910 which showed birth as GOLDENBURG. No town by that name exists;
perhaps they meant Oldenburg. The only other clue is that the Hoeper family
lived "near Denmark" and that he spoke High German while his wife spoke Low
German. Can anyone suggest an area to begin searching church records? Thanks.

--Hello list,

I just read in a magazine that in the 19th century, the people getting
married had marriage contracts and they provide quite a bit of information
on the family. Does anyone on the list know about these contracts, and if
so, where to write for a copy. I am interested in the Hannover area. Thank
you in advance for any help.

Where can I find a list of OSB available for the region of Hannover? I can't
find any listed in the LDS catalog, but there must be some there. Danke

You should know that besides Oldenburg in present day's federal state
Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) there is another town Oldenburg in Holstein (north
of Hamburg, near Luebeck), which is somehow "near Denmark". So why not start
searching there?
