What I have you your family is a partial exerpt of "The Bode Family - The
descendants of Friedrich Bode & Maria Stuenkel 1993". I have 'xerox'
copies of pages 1-6 and 15-17 only for some reason. I actually received
these copies from my Uncle Steve Bohde to whom you refer. He was my Dad's
brother but has passed away several years ago. He was not a pastor but a
lay minister at Our Shepherd - Birmingham.
My family is originally from the Hanover area of Germany, specifically the
town of Hajen, south of Hamlin. My g-g-grandfather August Bohde and his
Brothers Heinrich, Wilhelm and his sisters Louisa and Wilhemina came to the
usa in 1854 and settled in St. Joseph Township, Allen County, (Fort Wayne),
Indiana. They founded the St. Peter Lutheran Church in 1855. Much of my
data is from the parish record.
There are very few Bohdes with the 'h' here and remaining in Germany.
There are approx. 3 or 4 lines of Bohdes here- ours and 2- 3 others. Must
be related back in Germany but havn't had any luck beyond 1854. Havn't yet
started any research in Germany.
