BASCHNAGEL, Karl (Charles) 1850-1934, Baden - NY

Bob:
?
Charles ?Baschnagel executed a Petition to become a Citizen in the Mayor's Court in Scranton, PA in 1873 stating he arrived in the Port of NY during Dec 1864.? He used the name Charles Baschnagel.? I "assumed" his name was Carl as I have been told Charles is Americanized from Carl.? I suspect he might have "stretched the truth" when he stated the year he arrived and might actually arrived in a later year.
?
I would like to see who, if anyone, he traveled with inasmuch as he was only 14 years of age when he made the trip.? Would also like to ascertain where he came from in Baden.
?
I have the information?you have?from the IGI but couldn't be sure that its him.
?
I have a copy of his death certificate that states his mother's maiden ?name was Margaret MEYER and that his father was Charles BASCHNAGEL.? That information was given by his daughter Elizabeth SMITH.
?
You're right.? I previously had the AOL address.
?
Thanks for your interest.

The birth date and place you gave was from the 1880 Census. this
information cannot be take as good facts as you do not know who gave the
information to the enumerator and what the enumerator though he head and
how he thought the name should be spelled.

I would like to see who, if anyone, he traveled with inasmuch as he
was only 14 years of age when he made the trip. Would also like to
ascertain where he came from in Baden.

The record at castlegarden.org will not say anything more than Baden.

I have the information you have from the IGI but couldn't be sure
that its him.

I would take that over the word of his daughter in 1914?

I have a copy of his death certificate that states his mother's
maiden name was Margaret MEYER and that his father was Charles
BASCHNAGEL. That information was given by his daughter Elizabeth
SMITH.

You're right. I previously had the AOL address.

Finally castlegarden.org came through searching for all b*nagel

here are some that might be of interest for you:

CARL BACHNAGEL TRADESMAN 17 M 26 Jun 1873 HAMMONIA HAMBURG &
HAVRE GERMANY

HART. BARTHNAGEL FARMER 42 M 23 Sep 1857 INDIANA BREMEN &
SOUTHAMPTON GERMANY LOUIS BARTHNAGEL SON 16 M 23 Sep 1857

AUGUSTE BARTHNAGEL DAUGHTER 11 F 23 Sep 1857 INDIANA BREMEN &

CHARLES BARTHNAGEL SON 8 M 23 Sep 1857 INDIANA BREMEN &

SILVESTRE BASCHENAGEL CHILD, YOUNGSTER 3 M 3 Jan 1860 WILLIAM

Now with dates and ships you can search for all the other passengers at
castlegarden.org by entering the ship name, Surname = * and the year of
arrival. (They will be in alphabetical order.) or look at the
manifests either at a NARA office or though a FHC.

I do not know how you think you can find what people he might have been
traveling except the ones near him in the manifest.

Also get the Bettmaringen RC records and go though them. I would start
there. See if the original records have a sponsor for his baptism.

I suggest that you get a book on German genealogy either from you
library system or buy one.

One last thing, you do not need the Reply To field in your Verizon
Accounts filled in unless you are sending from one address and want the
replies to go to another address. having you address in the Reply To
in the message can make difficulties for responders.
