mich erreichte eine Bitte eines Australiers, dessen Ahne 1853 im Alter von 17 Jahren mit der "Queen Victoria" dort einwanderte. Als Herkunft ist nur Schleswig-Holstein bekannt, keine Ort und keine Eltern angegeben.
Name in Deutschland: vermutlich Eduard Julius WEHLOW (WEHLAU?)

Unfortunately I nor any other member of our extended family have been able to find any additional information on Edward Jules Wehlow prior to his arrival in Australia. He claims on his naturalization certificate that he came to the colony of NSW in 1853 on the ship Queen Victoria. His certificate applications note that he came from Schleswig-Holstein with no town named mentioned. He would have been about 17 at the time. We know nearly everything about him after his arrival in Australia.
I have had some contact with some Wehlow's in Germany but they do not respond to readily to my emails but there is some satisfaction in that the name Wehlow is spelt the same in Germany and Australia, this may or may not indicate that he did not change his name on arrival in Australia.
