Unfortunately for you and all others, the site has indeed 'gone down'. Maybe the webmaster didn't think the site would be so popular and it can't cope. This reminds me of when the British government put the 1901 census online - the server could not deal with the 2 million hits it received in one day!! It took several weeks for the 1901 census to come back online. We will have to be patient.
I would like to share some news with you. I've been away from home attending a high school reunion and was able to tell one ex pupil I have recently discovered we share the same 1801 German relation. Funny how the past catches up with you!
