Antw: Erzdiöse Münster, Oldenburg, Katholische Erlas

Sorry Rena,

Münster is no archbishopric but just a bishopric,
the archbishopric is Köln (Cologne) or archdiocesis

Hallo Hans and Barbara,

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my query about the town of OELDE
(described as being in Westfalen) where I found a FLEMME had lived in 1693.
All I am certain of is that my ancestor left European mainland before the
English census in April 1871when he stated he was born in the country of
Hannover.
I note Hans remarks Oelde was in Saxony, whereas it was noted as being in
the principality of Westfalen on a website I surfed! If it was in the
dioces of Munster, would Oelde be in either of these parishes which are
described under?

Church district Soltau
Munster-St. Stephanus Militärgemeinde, Munster-St. Urbani,

In most cases these parish registers are accessable directly at the
vicarages in their handwritten, original shape. Almost all of them (covering
the time before 1853) were filmed on microfiches as well and are available
for look ups at the Kirchenbuchamt Hannover, Hildesheimer Str. 165/167, D -
30173 Hannover.

Hi Rena,

I would guess that this is referring to the town of Oelde which is in
Westfalen east of Münster (and a little south). It is a little north of
Highway 2 and west of Rheda-Wiedenbruck. This appears to be a list of
parishioners (possibly) in a Catholic church in Oelde in the diocese of
Münster.

My yesterdays buy of the second hand market was:

KLEYBOLDT, Chr.:Sammlung kichlicher Erlasse, Verordnungen und
Bekanntmachungen
für die Diözese Münster, Münster 1898, 690 Seiten.

Following this, it seems the church district reached to the North into
nowadays
Lower-Saxony to the region of Oldenburg. The book gives answers to questions
about dealing church affairs by priest about prices of acting in religious
affairs and priests income, in case of marriage between Catholic and
Lutheran
peoples, how to deal with different groups in society and lot of more
issues,
especially in context with ceremonies. So, if there is a question how things
should have been dealt officially about 1900 in these Catholic regions, I
might
try to find it out ...
