Answers to Wolfgang Buchhorn about Lager Lechfeld.
In 1919 German Mennonites were seeking entry back back into Germany
in large numbers . This was after WW1 and Lager Lechfeld was empty.The German army was being dismantled.
There was room for Refugees and arrangements had been made for The German Mennonites to go back here.
Especially my parents the Neustaedters and Krugers still had their German Citizenship.The Neustaedters
at that time were in Pavlodar part of Siberia. My cousin who now lives in Daisbach,Germany(Kreis Sinnsheim)
said the were put on trains with wounded German Soldiers(1919) and sent back to Germany by way
of Riga, Latvia then to Sweden ,then across the North Sea to Germany and Lechfeld.
They were here from 1919 to 1923. They worked in surrounding towns in this area. One of the duties
was the dismantling of a Huge Zeppelin (Dirigible) Hanger.My Grandfather Gerhard Neustadter was
toolmaker and employed about 8 people in his (Geschaeft) business.My Mother Susanna Krüger
was from Kustenai. her family was exciled to Siberia and they were self sufficient . Their father
owned a successful wheat farm in Memrik Colony So Russia(Northof the Black Sea).
My father and mother met each other at Lechfeld and were married there 19 Nov 1921
