Hello group!
I have many ancestral families from Lohne, and some from Damme.
Attempting to locate Anna Margaretha KRUSE born on or around 1 Feb 1834; but where
is the question. She had a sister Maria born around 1827. Parents at
this point are unknown. Both ended up in Ludlow, Kentucky (just across the
Ohio river from Cincinnati). Anna Margaretha KRUSE married Herman Heinrich
KONERMANN (of Ibbenburen) in Cincinnati in 1854. I've reviewed microfilm
rolls of baptisms in Lohne, Damme and Steinfeld, but have come up empty handed.
A census record indicated she was from "Hanover", but Hanover is such a
generic locale that I'm not ruling anything out. Anyone who might have come
across her in their review of baptisms or who have traced the KRUSE name
in Oldenburg. I would love to hear from you. There are many descendants
who can claim this area of Oldenburg as their ancestral homeland, and I
suspect that my GGGrandmother is from this area too.
Thanks for taking the time to read this inquiry.
Greetings from Cincinnati!

Hello Tim,
I can't really help you with the exact name but my great-great-grandfather's name was Johann Friedrich KRUSE born 8 March 1849, died 14 February 1928. The family lived in Zetel or Neuenburg which is about 25 miles north of Oldenburg.
I know that there was some emigration to the US but I have no record of this. It could very well be that this Johann Friedrich KRUSE is some cousin of your Anna Margaretha. Do you know of any other brothers or sisters? By the way, the name KRUSE is a very common name in Germany, so the more information you have on parents, siblings and their birthdates, the more probable a match can be.
Greetings from Germany,
Henning
Hello Tim,
Kruse is a verry common name in northern of Germany,
check it with this: Geogen Deutschland (Onlinedienst) - christoph.stoepel.net
On the other hand I think she was catholic, the catholics area in northern of Germany are south part of Oldenburg (like Lohne, Steinfeld, Damme), Osnabrück area like Ibbenbühren, Westfalia and Emsland.
Could you find the passenger list ( http://www.castlegarden.org/ )?
Have you checked the census of several years?
If the others also listed Hannover as origin, then could it be Osnabrück area or Emsland (former Landkreis Lingen).
Good luck,
Werner Honkomp

Dear Tim,
I have checked the Catholic church registers of Damme. An Anna Margaretha Kruse was NOT baptized there in early 1834.
