Ankum Catholic Church Records - early 1800s

I am trying to locate information on my great, great grandfather, Bernhard
Lienesch. I know he was born in 1801 in Hannover, was likely a Catholic
living in or near Ankum. He may have been somehow related to the Lienesch fief in
Ankum. He emigrated to Illinois in the US, probably around 1840-1845. I'm
particularly interested in his parents' names, and his wife's name and the
date of their marriage.
Can anyone advise me how to locate any civil or church records for the
period 1801-1845? I've generally found that the LDS records for those years
are not listed, but maybe I'm missing something.
Thank you.

Hello Robert,

this site is very useful
http://www.osfa.de/database/ankum.html

someone in Holland has already researched the LIENESCH family - see link on
the above mentioned website. Bernhard Struckmann (see link) will be able to
give you some information from an index to the Ankum parish registers.

Hope this helps
Kind regards
Renate (Dry)

Dear Robert,

Certainly you have seen this Familysearch.org record:
IGI Marriage Index:Bernard LienschLucia Hergemole St. Clair, Illnois 9 Feb 1851

The info is not sourced, but perhaps a church record could be found would fit nicely into the family tree of a Bernhard Liensch who settled in Illinois prior to 1851. A son's marriage perhaps, or a second marriage for your Bernhard.

Did you ever discover the ship register of your family?

Something might be of interest here:

Go to Verden.,
Peruse "L" surnames.
Liensch - Interesting that the name Louise Lucia Caroline circa 1802 Verden.. Parents Wilhelm & Anna Muhlenkamp (I think?)
Liesch - Interesting there is a Johann Bernhardt circa 1802 Ankum..??

Probobly you may have researched ^ all ready, but because of the slim chance you have not is the reason for my post.

Some time ago for some reason I searched Aida for Ankum.

Here I noted:

Bestellnummer: Rep 335 Nr. 790Laufzeit, von: Laufzeit, bis:Titel: 1. Beimesche sive Reiling, Johann Diedrich Bernhard2. 09.06.1835, Nortrup Pf Ankum A Bers3. ?4. ?5. keine6. ?7. Ungarn8. 16.04.18589. ?10. ?

1. I'm not sure what Beimesche sive Reiling..... means.
2. I think the birthdate of this Johan Diedrich Bernhard is 9 June 1835.
8. I think 16 April 1858 is the date ^ recieved visa to travel.

Beimesche is not Leinsch..but had the idea that in olden hand scribe cursive text records the name might be similar... however..this would not match St. Clair, Illinois marriage in 1851... but I thought interesting for speculation anyhow.

Warmest,
Barbie-Lew
