Ancestors

G'day list after doing quite a lot of family research through the patriarchal line of my family history we come to a dead end.

Let me say why for the last +/- 300 years my family has lived in the 1 village in the North of the Netherlands so there was no problem finding out most information about that, but then we get to a man who Called himself "Harm Geerts" who married in Bierum (the Netherlands) Trijntje Hindrix 19/Jun/1718 and it is recorded the Harm came or was born in Burgsteinfurt Germany . Geerts could be a Family name or it could be a patronymic (i.e.: his fathers first name) which was a very common practice in the Netherlands at that time.

Now I have found Burgsteinfurt on the map and my question is would there be someone out who could tell me how and when to start looking for this man. Also is this the only Burgsteinfurt in Germany at that time. I of course speak no German what so ever I can make some of it out because I read and write Dutch to some degree and of course I read and write English because I am an Australian.
