I almost forgot, the family also used the name Brown at times. Not sure if that was due to WW1 or not, so maybe they came to the USA as Brown? In fact, my Dad didn't realize his real name was Braun until he was drafted into the US Army in 1944 and saw his original birth certificate. From then on my Dad, his parents and siblings went by Braun.
