Dear list members,
One of my ancestors, Adamus (Adam) Pieper or Peeper was born about 1734. He went to Amsterdam and stayed there. The only thing I could find in his Amsterdam marriage record is that he came from Oldenburg (it is not clear whether the city or the grand duchy is meant).

Have you seen the marriage records yourself?
I received exactly the same kind of information a few months ago: my great-grandmother left Oldenburg and married in Brasil.
A copy of the marriage certificate states only that she came from Oldenburg, and nothing else.
I managed to get a digital picture of the records, and found out exactly where she came from.
