ADAM WENTZ/WENZ aus BADEN ? Prussia ? ( ACHIM bei BREMEN ?)

Adam Wentz was born in Baden (Prussia), I think, around 1829. He came to
Illinois about 1855-1861.

His wife Wilhelmina (born 1842) came from Hannover around 1857-1861. One
source says 1861, but her first child (my great-grandmother) was born in the
U.S. in 1861. If that is true, they must have gotten married in Germany. I
do not know her birth name yet.

Liebe Listenmitglieder,
Im US

Hello Alexa,

You have quite a task. The 1870 census might be the one you can get any
information about. They live in Illinois at that time. Am I reading the
census right? I don't find the other census that helpful. They must not have
stayed in Illinois?

Adam Wentz age 41 (1829?) born in Prussia
Mina age 28 (I842?) born in Hannover
Charles age 7 (?) Born In Illinois
   Betty age 5 "
   Sophia age 2 "

But where is the first child that is your great-grandmother? What was her
name?

I can't be sure of Charles' age in the 1870 census. Perhaps, Adam had a
son by a previous marriage? I've tried to find Charles - there are a lot of
them in the USA, but hard to know which it might be.

In 1860 there are several Adam Wentz names, but all are born in USA.

That is about all I could find with the spelling of Adam WENTZ, born in
the USA. But there are those with the spelling of Wenz:

In 1870 there is an Adam Wenz , age 41 in Cincinnati, born in Hessen
with a family there. The age is the same as the other Adam in Illinois. I
presume that doesn't fit if they lived in Ohio, not Illinois. No Wilhelmina
there.

However, there is a Wilhelmina Wentz, age 71, in Pennsylvania from
Wurttemberg. She's from Wurttemberg, but I suppose it's not the same woman
in the 1870 census.

In the Metasearch site in Germany ( http://meta.genealogy.net/), there is
a Adam Wenz, born in 1834 in Wurttemburg. Doesn't match the date in the 1870
census. Unless that date is wrong!

Thee are several ships with a Adam Wenz or Wentz Have you looked here:
http://www.castlegarden.org/ http://www.immigrantships.net/

And you can find some deaths on the LDS site.

Amen. Have fun.

Liebe Alexa,

suchen muss.
Liebe Grüße
Alexa
