Would appreciate help in getting started..I am not able to understand
German..I have just come upon some papers which I think might be a link to
my
GGrand father? Frederick Marien & the Bricker Family. One paper is a
Petition
& Naturalization 1869 & 1872.. for Frederick. It refers him as a native of
Mecklenberg Schwarien. Judging from viewing some of your E-Mails, that
probably the Location names have changed thru the years. Frederick 's paperwas issued in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. I would be grateful if someone
could get me started on good footing for my search..Thank you

Marion,
I would have answered earlier, but just got released from the hospital and
am catching up on my mail. You may have already gotten a response, but here
goes anyway.
My wife's great grandfather (Kröplin/Kreplin/Kreblin) and family came from
Mecklenburg-Schwerin. We have a paper dated 1882 from the
Mecklenburg-Schwerin government, in German, giving him and his family
permission to leave Mecklenburg-Schwerin. They didn't actually leave until
1885. We also have his Naturalization paper dated 1893, in English, issued by
the U.S. I got the impression from your email that the papers you have are in
German. If so, I would guess they were his papers allowing him to leave the
dukedom of Mecklenburg-Schwerin.
I would suggest you go either to an LDS Family History Center near you or
contact a high school that offers German and ask if anybody would give you a
translation (or at least a gist) of your papers.
