1870 Census Indexes are available at Heritage Quest by state and also on
microfilm at the Family History Centers and the regional annexes of the
National Archives.
All three have internet sites that fully explain how to reach them.
Family History Library has just released 1880 Census Index and Full Text on
a set of complete US CDs.
