Dear Sir/Madam
I apologise for english only.. i am not german, but am trying to help out my Father-in-Law who is a German citizen. He left Germany as a young child to work in South Africa on the mines just after the war, leaving his family behind.
They have been estranged for ove 55 years, and he has found if difficult to find his brother, who we believe is still living in the district of Hannover. They last saw each other when the brother was 7 years old. I did a large search on the internet, and did not come up with a narrowed down enough result, as the brother may not be telephone listed, and it only gives the first initial. I then telephoned the German embassy in Australia (they are visiting us here) and they gave me an address. I decided that I would like to try the e-mail service, because it may save us a lot of time and the necessity of writing many letters and not being sure if it was the right department to whom I am sending the letters.
I am led to believe there is a registry of all living in the town, so I would respectfully request for you to help us locate this man. The details that I have from my father-in-law are the following.
Name of brother: Hans-Jochem Schwager
Born: January 1945 (he seems to remember around the 15th).
He was born in Czechoslovakia.
My father-in-law is now 72 and would like very much to re-unite the brothers after over 55 years
If my request to you is to the wrong division, could you please let me know, with the correct e-mail or contact details of the correct authorities, then I will forward it to the correct authorities, alternatively, could you do this for me and subsequently let me know that this has been done.
i thank you for your help in advance and await your reply with anticipation.
Regards
Mrs Dawn Schwager
