1852 Census query

hello from Melbourne Australia ,

I have seen a few references to this Census 1852 , I dont know anything about it . Does the town of Osterode am Harz have a census for this time as well ? I am looking for SCHRADER - a Policeman and Prisonwarder in this town from 1838 - 1872 and dont know how many chn he had - sure would like to though.
Can the list members help me with this census please ?
Yvonne

Hello,
I believe that the only areas that have been put on the index and
printed into a booklet are those three: Achim, Hoya, Martfeld. That
wouldn't include Osterode am Harz. However, there are Schraders in Achim and
Hoya. If you contact the persons working on the census, maybe they can look
it up for a fee.

Hello Yvonne,
Dear readers,

Yes, Osterode had a census in 1852.

There was one for the city of Osterode (about 5200 inhabitants) and
for the Amt (county-like) district Osterode round the city (about 6800
inhabitants).

"Am Harz" means at the Harz mountains.

Our census project is far from beeing complete and it is correct that
we only have the Ämter Hoya, Martfeld and Achim in our database
yet. In the meantime the Ämter Lemförde, Schwarme and the city of
Bodenwerder are in completely as well. This means we are doing
step by step collecting, deciphering, digesting and editing the census
data, but this takes time.

Please take a look at the website of the census project (www.edition-
hist.de) from time to time.
